Alright, I'll start with an introduction. Seeing as my upcoming character is a dwarf and I'm terrible with names, I went searching for help. I found some in the form of DnD's suppliment book, Races of Stone. It provides prefixes and male/female suffixes for names, along with their meanings. If you're considering a dwarf character, this will help you a lot. I typed up a good amount of info from the book, and will paste it in this thread.
(In the listing, they go "Dwarven word" = "English word" and are alphabetical by Dwarven word.)
First: some tips. -Pick one prefix and one gender-appropriate suffix. -If they don't sound good together, you can add a, b, d, f, g, i, j, k, m, t, v, or z between them and it should sound better. These aren't the only ones, they just sound the best. -Keep the meanings flexible (e.g. Nordis = Mithral Heart = Lovely Mithral = Love of Mithral = As Lovely As Mithral) -If it gives two options for the word, pick either. They all mean the same. -When trying to pronounce them, try saying it in a Scottish accent, if possible. I find it's a lot easier.
